MOOSE JAW, Sask. -- Tanner Wishnowski scored twice and set up one more as the Okanagan Rockets skated to a 3-3 draw against the Moose Jaw Generals on Tuesday at the Telus Cup mens triple-A midget hockey championship. Wishnowski currently leads the tournament in scoring with three goals and six points in two games. Cory Santoro also scored for the Rockets (0-0-2), who erased a two-goal second-period deficit to avoid defeat. Ben Verrall, Donovan Neuls and Regan Nagy scored for the Generals (0-0-2). Okanagans Brendan Barry made 33 saves while Moose Jaws Grant Naherniak kicked out 28-of-31 shots. In other preliminary action, Izzy Benigno stopped all 22 shots his way and Tyler Longo had a pair of goals as the Toronto Young Nationals blanked the Halifax McDonalds 3-0. Nikolas Kalpouzos also scored for the Young Nationals (1-1-0) while Maxwell Routledge tacked on two assists. Reilly Pickard turned aside 16-of-19 shots for Halifax (0-1-1). In Tuesdays early game, Lane Michasiw made 35 saves as the Prince Albert Mintos salvaged a 1-1 tie with the Chateauguay Grenadiers. Michasiw was particularly sharp in the third period, stopping all 13 shots he faced to preserve the tie. Dakota Boutin opened the scoring for Prince Albert (1-0-1) with a power-play goal at 16:28 of the first period. Justin Doucet tied the game for Chateauguay (0-0-2) with just 20 seconds remaining in the second with a power-play goal. The goaltenders took over from there, with the Grenadiers Ryan Coughlin making 23 saves. Preliminary-round action continues on Wednesday.
